Why would the first miracle of Jesus that we have
recorded in scripture involve wine? There is
a significance in the fruit of the vine and a spiritual meaning that we
will search out in this study.
Wedding in Cana
Jn 2: 1 ¶ And the
third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was
there:
2 And both Jesus
was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. (John, Andrew, Peter, Phillip,
Nathaniel, and probably James according to what John wrote in chapter 1.)
3 And when they
wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto
her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. (This was
not disrespect, because Jesus loved and respected Mary)
5 His mother saith
unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were
set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the
Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. (A firkin is appx 10 gal, so
about 180 gallons.)
7 Jesus saith unto
them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith
unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare
it.
9 When the ruler
of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it
was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast
called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto
him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have
well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until
now.
11 This beginning
of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and
his disciples believed on him.
Whether Jesus’ family were friends of the bridegroom, or
were catering the wedding feast is not really important. From what the governor
said, they had drank wine and ran out. Mary knew who Jesus was from her first
encounter with Gabriel, the virgin birth, and the encounter with Simeon and
Anna, plus many other proofs given to her. She knew he was God in the flesh and
his power.
When Jesus opened His ministry here, He bypassed the
natural process of watering the vine, harvesting the grapes, crushing the
grapes, and fermentation and just went from water to the finished wine. The disciples,
his family, and a few servants witnessed His glory and believed. Wine was a
symbol of the redeeming blood of the Lamb of God.
It was a time of rejoicing and happiness, for a couple
were joined together, and wine of the best kind was plentiful. Wine that cheers
God and man, Jd 9:13
Moses under the law and judgment of God turned the waters
of Egypt into blood. But under the Grace of God is water to wine and blessings.
Joh 1:17 For the
law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
God Sacrifices in Eden
When Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of
blessing and calamity, God had to sacrifice animals to cover their sin with the
blood of innocence… the first atonement.
Gn 3: 21 ¶ Unto
Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed
them.
This
was the beginning of sacrifice to temporally cover sin. God had told Adam that the sin of eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would mean his death. The only thing that could save Adam was the sacrifice of an innocent animal, so that that death would take the place of Adam's death. This was the original sacrifice that the innocent blood would cover Adam's sin. The life is in the blood, and the animal's blood would cover Adam's sin, temporally.
The Bible says that God made Adam and Eve clothes (full body) of skins( Gn 3), which means that He killed the animals, their blood a covering for their sin, and their skins a covering for their bodies when they had to leave the garden into the harsh environment of the cold of 6000 years ago.
Melchizedek
When the 5 kings came against 3 and took away the women and
children and goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, they also took Lot, Abraham’s nephew.
Abraham took his trained servants and those who were confederate with him and by
the power of God recovered all. When he was returning home, Melchizedek came out
to meet him. This was none other than Jesus in His pre-incarnate form as a man.
Gn 14:18 And
Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest
of the most high God.
19 And he blessed
him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and
earth:
20 And blessed be
the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he
gave him tithes of all.
Heb 7: 1 ¶ For
this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham
returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2 To whom also
Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of
righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Without father,
without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of
life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Jesus is a High Priest forever according to the order of
Melchizedek. It was the preincarnate form of Jesus in man that was Melchizedek.
Ps 110:4 The LORD
hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of
Melchizedek.
This bread and wine are the first mention of the body and
blood of the coming Messiah; a predecessor of our Communion.
Abraham’s Sacrifice
Abraham had walked with God for 25 years. There had been some
times when he did not stand in the faith. One of those was the birth of Ishmael.
He was Abraham’s son, but born of Hagar, a handmaid because his wife Sarah was barren and
asked him to have a child for her by her handmaid. God had called him when he was
75 and now he was 100. But God had changed His name a year ago from Abram (exalted
father) to Abraham (father of many nations) and Abraham believed God, and God counted
that to him as righteousness. So Isaac was born of Sarah. God had changed her name
from Sarai (strives) to Sarah (princess). Both Abraham and Sarah had laughed when
God had promised them a son, for she was 90. Just the same God kept His word and
they named their son, Isaac (laughter).
In Gn 22 we see that Isaac has grown to a fine young man and that Abraham loves him. Ishmael and his mother had to leave because of strife between Hagar and Sarah.

God calls to Abraham and tells him to go
to Mt Moriah and sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering. Abraham obeyed God for he
knew that God had promised that his son would become a mighty nation. In Heb 11
it says that Abraham saw in his mind that God would raise his son from the dead.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye
here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again
to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt
offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and
a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and
said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire
and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide
himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
Isaac, the son of promise carrying the sticks was a type or symbol of Jesus carrying His cross. When Abraham told his son that God Himself would provide a lamb, that was prophetic of the future Jesus as well.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 ¶ And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
15 ¶ And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
The ram with its head in a thicket is a type of Jesus with
the crown of thorns. Because of Abraham’s obedience and him being in covenant with
God, God could now legally offer His only son for all mankind. That is why all the
nations of the earth are blessed in Abraham’s seed, which led to the birth of Jesus.
Even though wine was not in this piece of history, the blood of the Ram was and
the significance of it all is very important.
Offering of Sweet Savor
We see in Numbers the offering before the LORD that is a sweet
savor to Him. This is always concerning His Son, our Lord Jesus.
Nu 15:2 Speak unto
the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land of
your habitations, which I give unto you,
3 And will make an
offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing
a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet
savour unto the LORD, of the herd, or of the flock:
4 Then shall he
that offereth his offering unto the LORD bring a meat offering of a tenth deal
of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil.
5 And the fourth
part of an hin of wine for a drink offering shalt thou prepare with the burnt
offering or sacrifice, for one lamb.
In these days the sons of Korah challenged Moses for the
right to represent God before the people. God showed them by the budding of
Aaron’s rod that Aaron was whom He had chosen as His High Priest. Moses warned
them and said that God would do something new and the earth opened up and
swallowed up Korah and his band. After this the people came against Moses and
accused him of killing Korah.
Then the offering of incense was done before God and saved
the plague.
Incense was offered before God in the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies to represent the prayers of the saints and intercession coming up before the Father.
When the congregation came before Moses and accused him of killing Korah, a plague came upon them.
Nu 16:42 And it
came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against
Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold,
the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.
43 And Moses and
Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
44 And the LORD
spake unto Moses, saying,
45 Get you up from
among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell
upon their faces.
46 And Moses said
unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on
incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them:
for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.
47 And Aaron took
as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold,
the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an
atonement for the people.
48 And he stood
between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
The intercession of the High Priest came between the dead and the living and the plague was stopped. Jesus is our High Priest and His intercession and the understanding of the power of what He did with His sacrifice of body and blood can come between you and whatever plague that your are facing. For He is the Lamb of God.
The act of putting the Blood of Jesus before God has
miraculous results. God honors His Son and as we remember Him and what He has
done, God moves in our behalf.
Grapes from the Promised Land
Another example of the grapes of life is found in Numbers when the 12 spies returned with fruits of the land that God promised He would give them. The grapes must have looked like this.
Nu 13:23 And they
came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one
cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought
of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
Nu 13:24 The place
was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the
children of Israel cut down from thence.
This not only showed the fruits from the Promised Land and its blessings, but had a deeper meaning as the Grapes hanging between two men. Israel rejoiced with the goodness of the land. But the people believed 10 of the 12 spies that could only see walled fortified cities and giants in the land. They did not see themselves in the promise that God had made, but saw themselves as weak grasshoppers.
Only Joshua and Caleb believed God and tried to convince the people that they were well able to take this Promised Land and that they should go up at once. But the 10 spies had spoken fear and unbelief and the people listened to them rather than God. As it turned out, Joshua and Caleb were the only men of that generation to enter the promised land. God decreed that their unbelief in His promises would cause them to get what they said, that they would die in the wilderness.
The symbol of life in the grapes, was the symbol of Jesus on the cross where his life's blood was shed for all those of faith who will enter into the promises of God through the Grace of His Son. He was hung on the cross between two men who were criminals.
Passover
After the children of Israel were persecuted and in slavery
in Egypt for 10 generations, God heard their cry and sent Moses and his brother
Aaron, and sister Miriam to deliver them from bondage. Through Moses, God gave several
great signs and plagues upon Egypt, the last one being the first born of every family,
and every animal died in the night. God made a way of protection for His people.
None were harmed who followed His command to sacrifice a lamb, roast it and eat
it with bitter herbs and unleavened bread; and mark the door of the house with its
blood.
Ex 12:22 And ye
shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and
strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason;
and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
Ex 12:23 For the
LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon
the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and
will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
The
blood on the door posts and lintel is a picture of the cross and Jesus’ blood.
The unleavened bread is his body. The lamb sacrificed is a symbol of the future
Lamb of God; Jesus.
When God led His people out of Egypt with His mighty hand, they were all healed, they were all wealthy, they were all protected, they were all provided for.
Egypt is a symbol of the world, when Jesus leads you out of the world and into His kingdom, all those things are provided for you as well...like Joshua and Caleb, you have to believe God and trust Him.
Jesus revealed Himself in the last supper Passover meal with
His disciples. The roasted lamb is also the finished work of our LORD and the love
He shows us, we can show others.
The Mercy Seat
God had Moses to construct a mobile Tabernacle that traveled
with Israel through their wilderness journeys. It had a special Holy Place, it which
was golden furniture that each piece represented attributes of His Son, the promised
Messiah. The Holy of Holies was the place within the Holy Place where the Ark of the Covenant was, which is where God spoke
to Moses, or the High Priest. Every aspect of the Tabernacle and it’s furniture
represented Jesus. But, the grace and mercy of God that is through Jesus is best
shown in the Ark. It was wood for humanity. It was gold for Divinity. It had a crown
around the Mercy Seat for Royalty.
The blood of the bull that the High Priest sprinkled
before the Ark of the Covenant and on the Mercy Seat was a type of the Blood of
Christ.
Le 16:14 And he
shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon
the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the
blood with his finger seven times.
Le 16:15 Then
shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring
his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of
the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
The Cherubim on either side of the Ark were representing
God looking down at the Mercy Seat. They could not see past the blood to the
objects inside the Ark that represented man’s sin: 10 commandments that man could
never keep, bowl of manna which the people complained to God about, Aaron’s rod
that budded when God had to show the Levites that challenged Moses and Aaron to
be God’s representative. God cannot look past the blood of Jesus that covers
our sin…all our sin. In Jesus, we are the righteousness of God; His gift to us.
2Co 5:21 For he
hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.
Wine as Offering
Ex 29: 40 And with
the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of
beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.
It is hard for us to think that wine can be an offering to
God. But that is what our communion is in a manner of speaking. Any time that we
present Jesus, God’s Beloved Son, before God, He is always pleased.
Jesus told His disciples to have communion and in so doing
you would show His sacrifice before God.
Concerning the tithe, if the place that God is establishing His Name was too far, then take your goods when God has blessed you and...
Deu 14:25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:
26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
David knew about the symbol of wine and bread.
Ps 104: 15 And
wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and
bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
16 The trees of
the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
The trees of Jehovah here are full of sap, the life
giving Spirit of Jesus. The cedars of Lebanon are the largest and strongest
trees in Israel.
Jesus Body Blood
Jesus had preached to about 12,000 people and fed them with
a boy’s lunch of 5 loves and 2 fish and had leftovers. After that He went to pray
and sent the disciples away across the Sea of Galilee while he went up the mountain.
About 2 in the morning his disciples were caught in a storm on the lake and he walked
off the mountain and across the sea to them and calmed the sea and got into the
boat and it was immediately across the lake. While there, the people came to him
looking for more food. Jesus said:
Jn 6: 27 Labour
not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto
everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God
the Father sealed.
28 ¶ Then said
they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered
and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he
hath sent.
30 They said
therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe
thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers did
eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to
eat.
32 Then Jesus said
unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from
heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread
of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Then said they
unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said
unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and
he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto
you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the
Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise
cast out.
38 For I came down
from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the
Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should
lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the
will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on
him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
41 The Jews then
murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
42 And they said,
Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is
it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
43 Jesus therefore
answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can come
to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up
at the last day.
45 It is written
in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that
hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46 Not that any
man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily,
I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread
of life.
49 Your fathers
did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the
bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living
bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live
for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the
life of the world.
52 The Jews
therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh
to eat?
53 Then Jesus said
unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son
of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my
flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the
last day.
55 For my flesh is
meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth
my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living
Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he
shall live by me.
58 This is that
bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are
dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59 These things
said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 ¶ Many
therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard
saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew
in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this
offend you?
62 What and if ye
shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the
spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak
unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are
some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were
that believed not, and who should betray him.
65 And he said,
Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given
unto him of my Father.
66 From that time
many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Then said Jesus
unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon
Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal
life.
69 And we believe
and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
70 Jesus answered
them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of
Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being
one of the twelve.
Jn 7:1 ¶ After these
things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the
Jews sought to kill him.
Bread of Life
It is important to mention here that the bread is also
very important in our understanding of what Jesus did for us. The flour or meal
offering, the unleavened bread, and the body of Christ all speak of his
actions.
He became sin so that we could become His righteousness.
2 Cor 5:21
He took our disease so we could be healed. Isa 53:1-5
He became poor that we might be provided for. 2 Cor 8:9
He made for us the secret place of the Most High. Ps 91
We are sanctified once for all in His body. Heb 10:10
Redemption forever in His blood. Heb 9:12
Last Supper, Passover
Jesus had the Passover with his disciples which was a ordinance
established from the time of Moses and the deliverance of Israel from Egypt.
Then He took the cup of Isaiah and filled it with wine
and said, “This is the cup of My Blood of the new covenant for remission of
sins. Take and drink it in remembrance of Me.”
This is our Communion and the Power of all that Jesus has
done for us is remembered when we partake of the bread and wine; it is a contact point for us to know what belongs to us and have faith to receive those promises.
7 Times Jesus shed Blood for Us
Gethsemane – Jesus in extreme stress over bearing the sin
of man and His Father’s rejection sweated blood; so that we could overcome the
flesh and do God’s will.
Crown of Thorns – Jesus took the mockery of a crown of
thorns and rods; so that we could be kings in Him.
Scourging – Jesus was brutally beaten with the hide ripped
from His body; so that we could be healed.
His hands Pierced – Jesus was nailed to the cross through
His wrists; so that we could have authority in Him.
His Feet Pierced – Jesus was nailed to the cross through
his ankles; so that we could have dominion in Him.
His Heel was Bruised – Satan bruised His heel; so that we
can bruise the head of Satan in Him.
His Side Pierced – Jesus was stabbed with a spear into
His side and into his heart and out came blood and water; so we can have our
hearts renewed and healed from His broken heart, and be washed with the water
of the Word.
Jesus’ Sacrifice
Jesus opened His ministry with the blood of grapes and
closed it with His own precious blood to redeem us for all eternity to Himself.
When the time was right, God allowed His Son to be born in the world to be the Saviour for us all. This was His purpose, and why He was born a man.
He paid the price for our Salvation, healing, well being,
and prosperity. He gave us life to the fullest and eternal.
Jn 3:14 And as
Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be
lifted up:
15 That whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so
loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent
not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him
might be saved.
18 He that
believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned
already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of
God.
When they bound Jesus, the High Priest was binding the lamb at the Temple for sacrifice.
Sacrifices on the brazen altar were burned until they
were consumed and turned to ash. Jesus was on the cross for 6 hours of torture
where He took all of our sin, all of our diseases, all of our pain, all of our
sorrow, all of our condemnation, all of our poverty. He was not consumed at the
altar of the cross, but when the debt was paid, He cried…It Is FINISHED! And
then He gave His Spirit into the hands of His Father.
Jesus is also known as the lion from the tribe of Judah. But, He came first as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world.
At the same time, the High Priest was killing the lamb and
crying out, “It is finished.”
Resurrection
Jesus was buried and in the grave for 3 days, but rose
from the dead and lives today as the Man who is in charge of the Universe at
the right hand of God. He promised us that we will receive an immortal body
like His.
Php 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may
be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he
is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
He appeared
first after His resurrection to Mary Magdalene near the tomb.
Then to His Disciples and showed them the scars that showed
that the debt for man was paid in full.
He appeared to many others as proof that He is alive and ruling
the Universe from the right hand of the Father. He is our High Priest and intercessor for us always.
Jesus is alive and in power today and is the firstborn of
many brethren; of which you can be too if you believe in Him and accept Him as
your Saviour.
