The Tabernacle of David

The Tabernacle of David was a tent that King David set up to house the Ark of the Covenant.

In order to understand why David did this, we need to take a look at the history of the Ark of the Covenant; why it was made and what does it represent. In so doing we will learn about David and his relationship with God which will increase our faith and knowledge of our Lord.

Moses was called by God to deliver Israel from Egypt. God with a mighty hand and power took Israel to the wilderness at Mt. Sinai. Through Moses, God made this offer to the children of Israel:

Ex 19:3  And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

4  Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.

5  Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

6  And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

Moses told the elders of the people, and this was their answer:

8  And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

The people rejected the Grace God offered, and instead wanted to rely on their own ability to please God. So God gave them the 10 commandments and the other 603 laws contained in the Torah. While the LORD had Moses on Mt. Sinai, He spoke to him about His Son, the coming Messiah. All aspects of the Tabernacle which Moses was instructed to build represented God's Son, who is Jesus.

The courtyard where there was only one way in, Jn 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The altar where sins were forgiven yearly by sacrifice of animals. Jesus’ cross is our altar forever. Jn 12:32  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

The brass laver where the Priest’s washed before coming to God.  1 Jn 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The Holy Place; were the Priests could go after cleansing. There were 4 covers on the tent, each representing something about Jesus; His rough appearance, His Blood, Scapegoat, and honor of all Angels.

Wood columns overlaid with gold, 5 columns representing Grace and the Torah at the entrance to the Holy Place.

4 columns at the entrance of the Holy of Holies where there was a vail with Cherubim keeping the Ark out of sight, representing the 4 gospels and the 4 Seraphim around God’s throne.

Inside the Holy Place where the wall boards and furniture were all gold representing the Divine.

Inside the Holy Place was the Menorah;  a solid gold, 100 pound,  7 place lamp stand. Jn 8:12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

The Table of Shewbread where there was bread cakes and olive oil for the Priests. Jn 6:35  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

The altar of incense where the Priests would offer incense before the Vail which was the entrance to the Holy of Holies, the smoke represents the prayers of the saints coming before God. Heb 7:25  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

The Ark of the Covenant was the center of the Tabernacle behind the vail, where Moses communed with God at the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies, Ex25. This is also where the High Priest came before the Ark once a year to atone for the people of Israel. We will talk about the specifics of the Ark of the Covenant a little later.

Joshua succeeds Moses and leads the children of Israel to conquer the Promised Land.  When he comes to the Jordan River he has the Priests carry the Ark to the river's edge. When their feet touch the water it separates at flood stage and they are able to walk across on dry land.

Joshua has 12 stones taken from the middle of the Jordan and sets the Tabernacle in Gilgal, which is a giant footprint. Here he set the stones for a memorial.

The "footprint" was a natural amphitheater where they set up the Tabernacle. Here Israel could gather round and see the religious ceremonies. God told Joshua in Ch 1 that where ever his feet trod would be his land. He would be with Joshua and he just needed to be courageous and follow God's Word. Josh 1-4 tells us this history.

There are many of these "footprints" that were used by the children of Israel where they worshiped and placed the Tabernacle during their conquest. This principal was used even in Egypt when the Pharaohs would write the name of their enemies on the bottom of their shoes. God had said that your enemies would be under your feet and told Joshua that were his foot tread would be his. Josh 1, Ps 110.

Joshua went on to conquer Jericho by supernatural intervention involving the Ark. The Ark was then taken with the army of Israel to conquer the land of Canaan.  By the end of the conquest of the Promised Land, the Ark and Tabernacle was moved to Shiloh, Josh 18:31.  Here is a picture of a dig at Shiloh in 2019, Elif Millan project.

Through the Judges period the Ark and Tabernacle remained in Shiloh. There was a time that the Ark and Tabernacle may have been in Bethel, Jud 20:26-28.

When we get to 1 Samuel, Eli is the Judge and High Priest at Shiloh where the Tabernacle and Ark were. His evil sons, Hophni and Phineas  are also Priests but do not know or follow God.  At this time, Hanna prayed to God for a son and promised she would lend him to the Lord. God gave her Samuel, which she brought to Eli after he was weaned to minister to God at the Tabernacle. God blessed Hanna (who's name means Grace) and gave her 5 more children.

The Philistines attacked Israel so the people came to get the Ark of the Covenant to take into battle. Hophni and Phineas took the Ark and were killed, Israel lost the battle, and the Philistines took the Ark. When Eli heard about it he fell off the wall on which he was sitting and broke his neck and died. The Ark was separated from the Tabernacle for the first time.

The Philistines were plagued because of the Ark by God. They send it back to Israel on unmanned ox cart. They included a box with 5 gold mice and 5 golden hemorrhoids representing the plagues that God had laid upon the 5 cities of the Philistines. The Ark comes to Beth-shemesh where the people look into it and many die. They beg the people of Kerjathjerim to come get the Ark and they do. The Ark stays there for 20 years, 1 Sm 6, 7.

Samuel becomes the last of the Judges and the first of the Prophets. He got the people to repent from idolatry. He then offers sacrifice of a lamb before the children of Israel and the Philistines are repulsed by God and never come back to Israel during Samuel's lifetime. The Bible says that Samuel was a mighty Prophet of God and that God never let any of his words fall to the ground. The Ark was in his supervision for many years.

After this the people of Israel wanted a King to rule over them. Samuel tried to dissuade them for God was his King. The LORD told Samuel to go ahead, and he anointed Saul to be Israel's first King and Samuel loved him. Saul moved the Ark of the Covenant to Nob, a place closer to his hometown, Gibeah. Saul reigned 40 years but disobeyed God. The LORD then sent Samuel to find and anoint David to be King of Israel. David was the 8th son of Jesse. 8 has a meaning of new beginnings in the Bible. Jesus’ earthly lineage descends from David.

David was a man after God's own heart, 1 Sm 16. David was strong in the Lord and killed the Philistine champion, Goliath. Saul makes David his armor bearer and later his comforter and minstrel. Saul gives into evil and thinks of David as his enemy and he hunts for him. The Priests of Nob aid David in his flight and Saul kills them all. The Ark is moved after this to Gibeon, 1 Sm 21-22. Samuel is old and dies. Saul and his son Johnathan are killed in battle with the Philistines, 1 Sm 30. After a long war with Saul’s  army and Ishbosheth, Saul's son who became King for a short time after Saul's death,  David becomes king over all Israel, 2 Sm 5.

David gets the Ark from Gibeon by ox cart to bring it to the Tabernacle he had pitched for it. Uzzah touched the Ark to steady it and was killed by its Power. David leaves it there for fear at the house of Obed-edom (servant of Edom), a Levite, for 3 mo.

When David learns that Obed-edom was blessed because of the Ark, David goes and brings it to Jerusalem with joy, gladness, singing, dancing, 2 Sam 6. David discovered that the Ark must be handled as God has prescribed, on poles by Levites. He is pleased that God is blessing the event that he stops and makes sacrifice after 6 steps of the Levites as thanksgiving to God. When he gets to Jerusalem he places the Ark in the Tabernacle he had pitched. The rest of the furniture of the Tabernacle of Moses was left in Gibeon.

David knew God since a child and shepherd. You can see David’s heart in the Psalms and how he honored, and loved God…moreover how God loved him. Ps 23, 91.

God revealed to David, Jesus, His only begotten Son who is the Messiah. David saw the whole crucifixion in great detail in Ps 16, 22, 35, 55, 69, &129.

He knew that Jesus the Messiah would be in the order of Melchizedek, and not Aaron, Ps 110:4, Heb 7, Gn 14.

Now the Spirit of God would come upon some in the Old Covenant; prophets, kings, judges, and the like to accomplish what God willed. However this is not how The Holy Spirit of God comes upon the Church since the day of Pentecost, which was fulfilled 49 days after Passover as written in Acts 2.

David wrote the Psalms at the direction of the Spirit of God, that is obvious. He had a revelation that of all the furnishings in the Tabernacle, the Ark of the Covenant represented the way to God the Father. He saw the Messiah there, he knew Jesus there.

Ark of the Covenant Specifics

The Ark of the Covenant is a wooden box, representing the humanity of Jesus.

It is overlaid with pure gold inside and out, representing Deity of Jesus.

The lid of the Ark’s box is surrounded with a crown, representing royalty of Jesus.

To the sides of the Ark’s lid were 2 Cherubim with wings outstretched toward each other facing downward, representing the eyes of God overlooking the area between them called the Mercy Seat.

Inside the Ark originally was the 10 commandments (sapphire cubes), Aaron’s rod that budded, and a bowl of manna. Each of these items represented man’s sin.

·         Aaron’s rod symbolizes that God picked Aaron as the High Priest. The sons of Korah challenged Aaron and Moses at Sinai for the leadership of Israel. God had each of the elders bring their rods into the Tabernacle and the next morning Aaron’s rod had produced buds, flowers, and almond fruit. When the sons of Korah objected, the earth opened up and swallowed them.

·         Bowl of manna represents the people not being thankful to God for feeding them all of the years they were in the wilderness.

·         10 commandments show that man cannot have salvation under the law, because no man can keep the law…only Jesus, our Saviour.

Once a year the High Priest would come and sanctify the people before the Ark with blood at the feast of Atonement. He would cleanse himself and present himself before God at the Ark with a bowl of blood from bulls or goats and sprinkle with his finger before the Ark 6 times. The 7th time was Eastward on the Ark’s Mercy Seat between the Cherubim. The eyes of God through the Cherubim could not see through the blood of the innocent animal sacrifice to see the sins of men.

Under the strictness of the law, if the Priest was not clean, or if he made a mistake in the Holy Presence of the Ark, he could die.  (Nahab and Abihu, Aaron’s sons offered strange fire and were consumed by the fire of God, Lv10.) The High Priest had bells on the bottom of his robe and the other Priests could hear him moving behind the Vail. Tradition has a rope tied upon the foot of the High Priest just in case he died in the Holy of Holies the other Priests could drag him out without entering themselves.

You could not see the Ark from the Holy Place because of the Vail. However, because the Ark was orientated East to West you could see bumps on the Vail from the carrying poles that were always through the rings on the Ark pushing on the Vail.

As the High Priest came behind the Veil and faced the Ark, he would be facing North. As the Ark is a symbol of God and His throne, so his sprinkle of blood on the Mercy Seat would be to the Priest’s right and God’s left hand when the Bible says Eastward.

The Ark of the covenant is the Throne of God on this earth. Jesus the messiah is God's Grace and connection to mankind. The saviour sent by God the Father, the eternal Son.

An example of the Ark representing our Lord Jesus is found in Deu 28 and Joshua 8. Moses instructed Joshua to go to Mt. Gerizim and Mt. Ebal when he led Israel into the promised land.  Joshua built an altar at Mt. Ebal and plastered it over the natural stones and there wrote the 10 commandments. At Mt. Gerizim, half of the tribes gathered with the Ark present to hear the blessings that would overtake them if they kept the law of the Lord. At Mt. Ebal the other half of the tribes gathered to hear the cursing's that would overtake them if they did not keep the Law of the Lord. The Ark was again present there, and the altar that Joshua built was for the atonement of man's sin, where many burnt offerings and peace offerings were performed. Jesus took all of God's wrath upon Himself for man's sin. When we believe Him and accept Him into our spirit, we become the righteousness of God and all of our sins are forgiven.

The altar of Joshua built at Mt. Ebal for the atonement of the sins of the people where many sacrifices were made. The Ark was there representing Jesus, who took the sins of man on Himself.

Excavation and reconstruction of Joshua's altar discovered by archeologist Adam Zertal, who became a believer in Jehovah after using the Scriptures to find the altar.

What Did David Know?

He realized that coming to God was done by faith, and not the rudiment elements of the law.

Jn 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

He knew that the Ark of the Covenant represented the redeemer, the coming Messiah, the only way to the Father.

Ps 132:7  We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
8  Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
9  Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

David knew that worship directly to God was important and worship involves music.

Jn 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

He knew that Abraham received righteousness by faith and not the law.

Rm 4:3  For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

He knew that the goodness and mercy of God was everything. God’s righteousness is a gift.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, Ps 23:6.

The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works, Ps145:9.

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness, Ps 145:5-7.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty, Ps 91:1.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him, Ps 34:8.

Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, Ps 100:4-5.

As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust, Ps103:13-14.

He knew that the anointing of God was priceless, and that he had it. He had never come against King Saul, even though Saul had hunted him to destroy him. He said he would never come against the Lord’s anointed. Remember that Saul and David were both anointed by Samuel.

David knew that to come to God, you needed not a lot of religious protocol, but a relationship with the Redeemer. He knew the closest thing in this earth to the Messiah was the Ark of the Covenant.

Dimensions: 1.5x1.5x2.5 cubits.   If you divide each measurement by .5  it would be 3x3x5. Theses are all Divine numbers of God and Grace. 3x3x5=45  4+5=9.  9 is 3+3+3, a Trinity of Trinities.

David placed the Tabernacle before the people with Priests tending the Ark of the Covenant.

We have the same promise of God and the gift of His righteousness through our Lord, Jesus.

2Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

2Pe 1:1  Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

2 Sm 6:17  And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

David put Levites to minister to the LORD at the tabernacle he had constructed for the Ark of the covenant. No doubt this included the sprinkling of blood on the Mercy Seat.
This is a symbol of the future blood of Jesus the Messiah.

Col 1:20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
This is the blood of Jesus. This blood covers those who are in Christ and He in them and redeems them from the curse of the law.

Heb 12:22  But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23  To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24  And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
There is power in the Blood of Jesus, atonement of the soul, protection, and deliverance.

We know that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, Heb 1:3. Because of the New Covenant in Christ we also know that we who are in Christ and He in us are seated with Him in Heavenly places, Eph 2:6.

There was no vail here, but the Ark of the Covenant of God was clearly visible for all to see the way to God. Grace and the Mercy Seat were visible where the law was not, for Grace is over the law.

Ron Wyatt’s Finds

Ron Wyatt was an archaeologist who in the 1970-80’s discovered many notable artifacts showing that the major happenings in the Bible were true by powerful evidence. Some of those were: Noah’s Ark, The Red Sea Crossing at the Gulf of Aqaba, The actual Mt. Sinai in Arabia, Sodom and Gomorrah ruins, and discovery of the Ark of the Covenant. https://wyattmuseum.com/museum

Mr. Wyatt has passed on, but he is the only human from modern times to have seen the Ark of the Covenant.  His description and models are pictured in this blog. Pictures he took did not turn out. One of the amazing things about this find that was inspired by God for Mr. Wyatt to find is that it was in a cave hidden below the actual crucifixion site. The Ark was put there by Jeremiah before Nebuchadnezzar took Judah to Babylon and destroyed the Temple.  Also in the cave was the Menorah, Altar of Incense, Table of Shewbread, and the sword of Goliath. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8TRoQk6WUE&list=PLJYoGwCLWM1AXO-TPOhC4LaUWgAo2_j6H&index=14&t=243s

When the earthquake happened at the crucifixion, as recorded in the Gospels, the blood of Jesus of Nazareth ran down a crack formed in the rock and through a broken lid on the vault that the Ark was contained and dripped on the West side of the Ark, which would be the right hand of God’s earthly throne. Ron Wyatt scraped off some of the dried blood and took it to a laboratory in Jerusalem. When hydrated, it was living. The blood had 22 single chromosomes (Mary) and one pair for the 23rd (God determined the sex.)

This is the precious Blood of the only begotten Son of God, fulfilling prophecy by forever forgiving our sins once and for all and anointing the Most Holy Ark.

Heb 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

This was not only heaven, but here on the Ark of the Covenant Mercy Seat in the space reserved for the Redeemer’s Blood. . It was preserved for this purpose, for the Son of God will not see corruption, Ac 13:37.

Heb 10:11  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

Mr. Wyatt was told by Angels at the site of the find that the Ark would remain hidden until God wanted it revealed. The cave contained not only the Ark in a rock box, but the menorah, table of shewbread, and altar of incense, and the sword of Goliath as mentioned earlier. The apocryphal book of Maccabees tells how Jeremiah hid these things before Judah was taken by Nebuchadnezzar.

Prophecies of David’s Tabernacle

Ps 15:1  « A Psalm of David. » LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

David knew that no one is worthy to stand before God, only by the gift of righteousness that was accepted by faith in the One who would come as Redeemer and Saviour…our Lord Jesus Christ.

Isa 16: 5  And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

Isaiah is talking about the future in the millennium when the Jesus will rule for 1000 years.

Am 9:11  In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

Ac 15:16  After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

Acts here is recording the preaching of Paul about  Amos and the Tabernacle of David, which represents the Ruling of the earth by Jesus in the millennium, Rv 20.

Jesus Christ is our only way to Salvation. If you do not know Him, ask Jesus into your heart today.

Word Faith

Everything that we see, hear, touch, smell, and taste was created by God’s spoken word.

Gn 1:1 ¶  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 ¶  And God said,…. Let there be light: and there was light.

Here we see the Trinity in the first 3 verses, verse 3 reads “God Said” so we know that God spoke His Word. We also know that Jesus is God’s Word.

Vs 1 we see God who is the Father.
Vs 2 we see the Spirit of God
Vs 3 we see God's Word

Jn 1:1 ¶  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  The same was in the beginning with God.
3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

There is something very powerful in the spoken word. When God speaks, it always comes to pass, His Word is never void.

Isa 55:11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God created man in His own image; not only is man a triune being, as God is, but man also speaks. As God is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost so He made man as body, soul, and spirit.

Jesus spoke to us in Mt 12 about the words that we speak; their power and importance. A group of religious leaders had just accused Jesus of healing by the power of Beelzebub. Jesus told them they were about to commit the unforgivable sin of blasphemy of the Holy Ghost.

Mt 12:34  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Note that if those who did not believe in Jesus, (their own Messiah sent by God to them), were being warned about the power of their words to condemn even themselves, how much more shall we who believe in our Lord Jesus and follow Him be aware of the words we speak?

As we will see your words are powerful and can be used for good or evil. You must train your tongue.
Jesus spoke directly to the problems, not about them. He spoke to the root cause of the sickness directly and it obeyed His Words. He spoke directly to the sea and storm and it obeyed Him.
Remember that through Jesus all things were made, all things are still subject to His Words.

The Dumb Spirit

Mk 9:17  And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18  And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
19  He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
20  And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
21  And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
22  And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
23  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25  When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26  And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27  But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

Speaking Spirit

In Gn 2:7 God breathed into Adam’s nostrils and he became a living soul. In Hebrew the Rabbi’s translation of the Torah “living soul” is translated as “speaking spirit”.

Adam had tremendous power with his words. He lost that ability when he submitted to Satan in rebellion and the Glory of God departed from him.

Jesus speaking concerning children coming to Him said in Mt 18:11; For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. Most preaching on this is that Jesus was talking about the lost souls. I would say to you that if that was the case would not Jesus have said “those who were lost”? Jesus was talking about the power that Adam once had being made available to those who would believe in Jesus.  Walking with Jesus, listening to the Spirit and speaking what He tells you is to have power in your words to be victors in life.

The Storm

Mk 4:35 ¶  And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36  And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37  And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38  And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40  And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

So, many of you are thinking now that;  yes, but this was Jesus doing the speaking. Well Jesus told us this about doing great works:

Jn 14:10  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11  Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12 ¶  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Jesus was confirming here that He was going to the Father and would send the Holy Ghost…all of which happened, Acts 2.

Basically, if you have the Spirit of Christ in you, you are a child of God. Then you can ask the Father for the Holy Ghost, and He will move into your spirit as well. Now you can speak as Jesus did, by God’s Word inside of you. This can be naturally by what you have read in the Bible and have had it quickened to you by the Spirit, or supernaturally by speaking in tongues directly from the Spirit. Either way speaking the Word is very powerful.

Fig Tree

Jesus gave another example about speaking to the created thing in power:
Mk 11: 12 ¶  And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
13  And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
14  And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

Now do not misunderstand, even though the time of figs was not yet, the fig tree will have small buds that can be eaten. This tree did not and was not fruitful.

Jesus went on into Jerusalem after that and threw the moneychangers out of the temple.

20  And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21  And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Word Faith

Let me stress the importance of what Jesus taught here at the fig tree:
  • Have faith in God.
  • Whatever your mountain is, speak to it to be removed.
  • Do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you said will happen, and you will have what you said.
  • When you pray for things, believe you receive them and you will have them.

Paul said that when praying in Jesus Name for what God has promised the answer is always yes and amen,  2 Cor 1:20. Got knows what you need. If you pray according to the promises of God, you know that your loving Father will supply your needs.

Mt 6:7  But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8  Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Some Christian religions chant things over and over. God is not deaf, nor does he perk up because you say the same thing again and again. Some of my most effective prayers have been a whisper. There is nothing wrong with reminding God of His promises. Be thankful for the answer. Trust in our Heavenly Father.

9 ¶  After this manner therefore pray ye: The Lord ’s Prayer gives us His pattern in which to pray.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. The opening of your prayer should be with Praise and Thanksgiving.

10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Praying for Jesus’ return, and for His will to be done on earth, for in your world, you need to be doing His will.

11  Give us this day our daily bread. Thanking the Father for supplying your needs.

12  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Accept and be thankful that Jesus’ Blood has cleansed you from all sin. This prayer was under the Old Testament, under the New Covenant, we are forgiven in Christ and that is not based on our works, but Jesus’ works. We are to forgive others, but that is natural when we realize our forgiveness by the Lord. Our forgiveness is from God through the sacrifice of Jesus, and we receive it by faith.

13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For me to better understand, I like to think of a comma after “us”. God does not tempt man, James 1:13. God does lead us away from temptation, and He delivers us from all evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. End your prayer with praise for the Lord along with your heart’s admiration.

To speak God’s Word to objects, circumstances, and problems will make your life better. It is a positive thing and needs to be done with authority and love.

Ps 33:6  By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Paul talks about us as Christians using the same principles of God when we speak:

2 Cor 4: 13  We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

We receive the Spirit of Jesus into our spirit also by speaking:

Rm 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

The Hebrew word for speak is debar דבר . Read right to left, Dalet, the first letter is a picture of a door. Bet and Resh are the next two letters which is the word Bar or Son. By a basic interpretation of the word debar we see that speaking is the door to the Son.

To speak negative and with fear will bring bad things into your life and into the life of others you affect. That is the way of evil, and one of the ways witchcraft works.

Solomon, the wisest man ever except for Jesus said: Life and death are in the power of the tongue, Pv 18:21.

Pv 13:3 ¶  He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Pv 15: 1 ¶  A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Pv 15:4 ¶  A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

Pv 16:24 ¶  Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

James, the Lord’s half brother wrote: Jas 3:2  For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

James describes the tongue like a rudder on a ship; which though little turns a huge vessel where ever the pilot wants.

Or like the bridle bit on a horse that turns the powerful animal which ever way the rider wishes.

Ja 3:5  Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

6  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

7  For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

8  But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

9  Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

We are to listen to the Spirit within us and be guided in what we say.  Quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath, Jam 1:19.

Sower

It is very fortunate that the Holy Spirit included this parable and explanation in the synoptic gospels for us.

Mk 4:3  Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

4  And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

5  And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

6  But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

7  And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

8  And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

9  And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10  And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

11  And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

12  That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

Jesus here is explaining the importance of receiving God's Word, believing it, and using it in your life. All of this involves speaking the Word by faith.

13  And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

14  The sower soweth the word.

15  And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

16  And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

17  And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

18  And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

19  And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

20  And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

So here is the roots for our faith, God’s Word. Paul tells us that the faith we have comes by hearing the Word of God, Rm 10:17.

When God’s Word is in you, you will speak it, for as we have seen “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”

It is important to speak what the Word says over whatever mountains you are facing. All was created by God’s Word, and when you speak the Word over a circumstance, it will change to conform to the Word.

Rm 4:16  Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17 ¶  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18  Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19  And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:

20  He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

22  And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Abraham was known as the friend of God. God had cut the blood covenant with him long before the covenant of the law. Very similar to the Grace covenant of the New Testament written in the blood of Jesus Christ, Abraham believed God, and God counted that to him for righteousness. Notice that Abraham acted in faith as he learned from God and called things that are not as though they were. We as Christians must do the same today to be victorious in this life.

Do not let the devil fool you into thinking that your prayers are not effective.  “The effectual fervent  prayer of a righteous man avails much”, Ja 5:16b

James example here is of Elijah:

16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17  Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

So what was this effectual fervent prayer that Elijah prayed?

In 1 Kings we read about the story of King Ahab, Jezebel, and Elijah. Ahab was evil, and so was his Queen Jezebel. She had 850 prophets that worshiped a demon god, Baal. Elijah was sent to be a prophet to Israel and because of the evil actions of the government, he went straight to Ahab and confronted him about that. Ahab was not receptive and Elijah said;

1 Ki 17:1 ¶  And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

As James said, it did not rain in Israel for 3 ½ years.

The point is this: your faith, your belief in God and His Word, are put forth from speaking. You as a speaking spirit have tremendous power in your words. Elijah spoke as God's representative. His "prayer" was a statement that God honored.

Back to Abraham, Abraham’s obedience to God’s direction brought about the sacrifice of Isaac, Abraham’s promised son. Abraham was speaking God’s Word in his life, following what he learned from God. Basically, God gave the earth to Adam, Satan stole Adam’s dominion by deceiving Eve. God had to institute the sacrifice of animals to keep His Word about death and sin without killing Adam. God cut the blood covenant with Abraham and this bound God and Abraham allowing God interaction on this planet for man’s benefit. The obedience of Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac at God’s command, was what it took to set the covenant in place for God to offer His only son, Jesus, for all mankind. The intent was enough and God stopped the sacrifice of Isaac, but the result of this was, forgiveness and Salvation for man.

By words, God had set in place the taking back of the earth’s dominion from Satan through Jesus. We, the Church are part of this process as the body of Christ.

Speaking to the Rock

We have seen in this study that speak in Hebrew is debar which when broken down means; speaking is the door to the Son.

In Ex 17 at the beginning of the Exodus from Egypt, we see that God sent Moses to strike the “rock” in Horeb to bring Israel water to drink because they murmured against Moses and God.

Rock here is the Hebrew word zur which means boulder. This was done with Moses’ rod with which he had turned the Nile to blood, and parted the Red Sea. It was a rod of judgment. This story is a type representation of Jesus being smitten at the cross to bring forth the water of life by His passion and sacrifice. Jesus fulfilled the law in all ways and delivered us from the law of sin and death into the law of righteousness, Rm 8:1-2.

In Nu 20 at the close of the 40 years in the wilderness, once again the people murmured and God sent Moses and Aaron to the “rock” to speak to it and the LORD would bring forth water for the congregation. Rock here is the Hebrew word Sela which means cliff or the high place and strong hold of Jehovah.

This was the command of the Lord to take Aaron’s rod which is the rod of the High Priest and had shown the miraculous power of God by budding, blooming, and producing almond fruit all at once; and once at the Rock, there to speak to the Rock and the Rock would bring forth water. This story is a type of the risen Jesus, who brings us the Holy Ghost when we ask (speak to) the Father by Jesus Name as His children, Lk 11:13. Jesus is our High Priest, and as Aaron’s rod was cut off and placed into the Ark of the Covenant. Jesus was Himself cut off from the living as a human and raised from the dead as King forever. The Ark itself is a representation of Jesus our Lord.

(Note: Moses was impatient with the people and took Aaron’s rod and stuck the cliff twice. God still brought forth water, but Moses and Aaron lost the leadership to bring the people to the Promised Land because he did not sanctify God in front of the people and speak to the rock.)

We have seen that the Hebrew word for speak is debar דבר. The Hebrew word for wilderness is midbar מדבר, this is adding one letter, mem, to the front of debar. Meaning: the way out of the wilderness is to speak to the Son.

I bring this scripture out again because not only is speaking the way that we receive salvation, but it is the way that we receive everything in this life, good or bad. We want to speak God’s Word for if you speak it in your mouth, it will get into your heart. Our confession brings God’s promises to pass.

1 Cor 4:13  We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;…

Paul is talking here about the Christian way of life, the Glory of God in you through Christ Jesus.

Rom 5:17  For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one (Adam); much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

God’s Word is never void, and accomplishes His will. Be part of that. Let God’s Word be in your heart and mouth and be victorious as a child of the King.
