After the creation of the heavens and the earth, God decided to make Himself an eternal companion. One that would worship Him and depend upon the LORD for his very existence.
Adam
Gn 1:26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
The LORD gave Adam the position of King, Priest, and Prophet and Adam's duty was to keep man subject to God and walk with Him; and to pass this lifetime responsibility on to Adam's seed by picking the next recipient. This is the Melchizedek Order.
A big part of the Adamic Covenant became the sacrifice for sin. God preformed the first one by slaughtering animals and making coats of skins to cover Adam and Eve, and their innocent blood to temporarily cover their sin of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In their innocent and holy state, this was the only command that God gave them.
For this transgression they were forced to leave the Garden of Eden and their home and live in the world where Satan had the dominion that was given to Adam. But, Adam was still Priest, King, and Prophet, and taught his children's children about God. He showed them about God's plan written in the stars; the Bible Mazzeroth. They would never see the Tree of Life the rest of their lives. They had many sons and daughters and lived 930 years.
The order following was: Cainan, Enoch, and Methuselah. These were continuing in the role after the fall and Satan becoming the god of this world. This was all after the Adamic Covenant. Methuselah and his grandson Noah were around at the time of the transgression of the fallen angels and the time of Giants or the Nephilim.
Methuselah and his grandson, Noah preached to a corrupted world to come back to God and reject evil for around 120 years. Methuselah picked Noah to be the 5th Melchizedek Priest.
Noah and his family were perfect in their genetics and had not been corrupted in this time. God chose to save the human race in them and locked them in the Ark that Noah and his sons built; along with a pair of all of the animals that had not been corrupted by the fallen. The clean animals were in 7 pairs. The rest of land animals and corrupted humans, and giants were destroyed in the flood. The fallen angels were placed in Tartarus, 2 Pet 2:4. This was 1656 years from Adam.
When the waters were receded, and the Ark landed in the mountains of Ararat, Noah was given another covenant from God. The promise of God was to all of the humans and animals that were rescued on the Ark. The promise of this covenant was that as long as the earth remained, there would be the 4 seasons, seed time and harvest, day and night, and no more would the LORD flood the earth. The LORD would no longer curse the earth. The sign of this covenant was the rainbow. Because all the earth was replenished from the occupants of the Ark, Gn 8- 9.
There were the Noahide laws that were extracted from scripture and Jewish tradition that Noah as the Melchizedek King, Priest, and Prophet revealed to his generation, and he lived 950 years.

Here are mentions of the Covenant to Noah:
Genesis
6:18 But
with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou,
and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
Noah's wife was Naamah a daughter of Enoch, from the Book of Jasher. His sons were Shem, Ham, and Japeth.
Genesis
9:9 And
I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
Genesis
9:11 And
I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any
more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to
destroy the earth.
Genesis 9:12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
Genesis 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
Noah passed the Priesthood to his son, Shem. Noah told Shem that he would know the next Priest would be his descendant who would attack the evil that was building up in Babylon from Ham's descendants through Canaan who was cursed by Noah.
Shem
Eight generations from Shem was Terah who was an idolater in the court of Nimrod, the king of Babylon and an evil man, the great grandson of Noah through Ham. Terah fathered Abram who Nimrod tried to kill because of his Chaldeans, sorcerers, and astrologers told him that this child would kill him and have a great kingdom.
Tera hid Abram from Nimrod for 10 years in a cave. Then he took Abram and gave him to Noah and Shem to teach him about the LORD. Abram was with them for 39 years and learned about the LORD.
This history is in the Book of Jasher.
Here is a timeline to show you that this was possible for Shem lived to be 600.
Abram went back to his father and convinced him that the idols were not to be worshiped and had no power. According to the Bible, Abram was called away from his family at 75 years old to go to the land of Canaan, where God led him. Terah went as far as Haran, and stayed there till he died, Gn 12-13.
Later, Nimrod (Amraphel) and 3 other kings attacked Sodom and Gomorrah and 3 other kings. 4 kings coming against 5. They captured the young men and women and took much stuff from the cities of the plain. Lot, Abram's nephew was in that group and Abram took his 318 servants that were trained to fight and his confederate Amorite friends and went and defeated the 4 kings and got back all the people and all the booty, Gn 14.
Shem, when he saw his 9th great grandson's valor and defeat of Nimrod and rescue of Lot went out to meet him. As the Priest of the Most High God, he gave Abram the first communion mentioned in the Bible.
At this time, Abram tithed to Melchizedek and was blessed by the Most High God. He became the 7th Priest, King, and Prophet, as Shem passed him the Priesthood because of what Noah had told him, Gn 14.
The testament of Noah was preserved in the Dead Sea scrolls.
Abraham
The covenant that God made with Abraham was a pivotal point in God's plan of the Messianic final covenant. I use the name Abraham vs Abram here because it is familiar and was the name that the LORD gave him after the covenant was cut.
We read in Gn 15:
1 ¶ After these things the word of the LORD came
unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and
thy exceeding great reward.
2 ¶ And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give
me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer
of Damascus?
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given
no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came
unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth
out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said,
Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and
he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it
to him for righteousness.
7 ¶ And he said unto him, I am the LORD
that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit
it.
8 And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know
that I shall inherit it?
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of
three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old,
and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided
them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds
divided he not.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the
carcases, Abram drove them away.
12 ¶ And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep
fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that
thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall
serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred
years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve,
will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace;
thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come
hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
17 ¶ And it came to pass, that, when the sun went
down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed
between those pieces.
This was the Father and the Son, light of the world.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with
Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt
unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the
Kadmonites,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the
Rephaims,
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the
Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
Several of these tribes were Giants. Abram saw the future in his trance, of how his seed would be the Messiah.
Abram listened to his wife Sari and took Hagar an Egyptian servant maid as a concubine to have a child for Sari. This delayed the birth of the promised son from Sari a time. The son born to Abram from Hagar was Ishmael.
Gn 17: 1 ¶ And
when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said
unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and
thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked
with him, saying,
4 ¶ As for me, behold, my covenant is with
thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called
Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made
thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I
will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 ¶ And I will establish my covenant between me
and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting
covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed
after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for
an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my
covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall
keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you
shall be circumcised.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your
foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be
circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in
the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy
seed.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is
bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in
your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of
his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he
hath broken my covenant.
15 ¶ And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy
wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also
of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations;
kings of people shall be of her.
17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed,
and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred
years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael
might live before thee!
19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a
son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my
covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after
him.
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold,
I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him
exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac,
which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
Both Abram and Sari laughed at this prediction of her having the Son of Promise. So the LORD added a hey to their names. This is the 5th letter of Hebrew, and symbolizes Grace, and also the breath of God. So, Abram became Abraham, the father of nations; and Sari became Sarah, princess. One year later, Isaac was born, which means laughter.
Ishmael was 14 at this time. When it came time to wean Isaac, Ishmael was mocking him and Sarah told Abraham that the son of the bondwoman was not the Son of Promise and told Abraham to cast them out. Abraham was sorry but obeyed at the Word of the LORD. But he watched over them and made sure they had water. He even made a covenant about a well for their benefit. Ishmael was an archer and he prospered into a great people as God had said, Gn 21.
Understand that even though the LORD had made the earth, He had given the dominion of the earth to Adam. Satan by deception had stolen that dominion from Adam. For God to act decisively on the earth, He had to work through His Covenant man, which at this time was Abraham.
Isaac’s sacrifice
Gn 22:1 ¶ And it came to pass after these things, that
God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here
I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son
Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him
there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 ¶ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and
saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and
clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of
which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his
eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye
here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again
to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt
offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his
hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and
said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the
fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
As Jesus carried His Cross for His Sacrifice, so Isaac carries his wood for his sacrifice.
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide
himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
Abraham had seen the future at the cutting of the Covenant. Paul says in Heb 11 that Abraham saw his son raised from the dead in a vision.
9 And they came to the place which God had told
him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound
Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took
the knife to slay his son.
11 ¶ And the angel of the LORD called unto him out
of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad,
neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God,
seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
God did provide a ram caught in a thorn bush for a sacrifice to be made. This is a symbol of the future seed of Abraham who would be the Messiah, Jesus. The horns of the ram became special shofars, the thorn bush was the symbol of the future crown of thorns that Jesus wore.
The Spiritual significance of this sacrifice is: God's Covenant man with rights on the earth offered his only begotten son to God. This gave God the legal right to offer His only begotten Son in the future for the Salvation and redemption of Adam's and all people's sin.
The circumcision was Abraham's covenant mark. The Covenant mark of God is the scourging, hands and feet pierced, side pierced, and the crown of thorns. These marks Jesus keeps perpetually, Lk 24:37- Jn 20:27-
Understand that Isaac was grown at this time. In the chapters that follow, he is 37. The point is that like Jesus Isaac freely offered his own life, but he could have easily over came his father who and old man.
According to the Book of Jasher, Abraham sent Isaac to spend time with Shem and his son, Eber to learn about the LORD.
The next part of Abraham's Covenant was to get his son a bride. In Gn 24 we read how Abraham sent his servant to go back to his home town and find a bride for Isaac. I will not go into great detail, but basically this is a prophetic type of God sending the Holy Ghost to find a Bride for Jesus. The Lord here is Abraham who asks his unnamed servant, representing the Holy Ghost, to swear by the covenant mark to go get Isaac representing Jesus, a bride who is Rebekah, or the Church. To see the parallels in this history lets you know how much God has done to get you. We the believers in Jesus and what His Passion has done are the Bride of Christ. He will return for us.
After he buried Sarah, he married Keturah and had six more sons which populated what is now Saudi Arabia. Ismael and Isaac buried Abraham in the tomb that he buried Sarah in, which was the cave of Machpelah near Hebron. Abraham died in a good old age of 175.
Isaac
The Melchizedek Priesthood was passed on to
Isaac from Abraham, even though he did not act in the power of his father as yet. Rebekah had twin boys when Isaac was 60, she had been barren for 20 years but
Isaac prayed to the LORD for her.
Gn 25:20
And Isaac was forty years old when he
took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the
sister to Laban the Syrian.
21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife,
because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah
his wife conceived.
22 And the children struggled together within
her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to
enquire of the LORD.
23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are
in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the
one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder
shall serve the younger.
24 And when her days to be delivered were
fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25 And the first came out red, all over like an
hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
26 And after that came his brother out, and his
hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was
threescore years old when she bare them.
27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning
hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in
tents.
28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his
venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning
hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in
tents.
28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his
venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29 ¶ And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the
field, and he was faint:
30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee,
with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his
name called Edom.
31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy
birthright.
32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the
point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he
sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of
lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau
despised his birthright.
Gn 26:1 ¶ And there was a famine in the land, beside the
first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech
king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go
not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee,
and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these
countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the
stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy
seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept
my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
And so, because of Abraham, God was with Isaac, and continued the Covenant with him.
35 Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to
Rebekah.
Esau married these Canaanite women, plus a daughter of Ishmael, his cousin.
When Isaac was old and almost blind, he sent Esau to go hunting and serve him some savory venison which he relished and he would give him his inheritance blessing. Now Rebekah knew that it was God's will for Jacob to have the blessing as the LORD had told her while she was pregnant. So, she conspired with her son to receive the blessing of Isaac. Jacob came out of the womb holding Esau's heel, he was a supplanter, but he knew he had purchased the birthright from his brother for a bowl of soup. So, his mother came to Jacob and said:
Gn 27:9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence
two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father,
such as he loveth:
10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father,
that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.
11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold,
Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:
12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I
shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a
blessing.
13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be
thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.
14 And he went, and fetched, and brought them
to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.
15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest
son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her
younger son:
16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats
upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread,
which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
18 ¶ And he came unto his father, and said, My
father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?
19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am
Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray
thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.
20 And Isaac said unto his son, How is it
that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the
LORD thy God brought it to me.
21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray
thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or
not.
22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and
he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are
the hands of Esau.
23 And he discerned him not, because his hands
were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.
24 And he said, Art thou my very son Esau?
And he said, I am.
25 And he said, Bring it near to me, and I
will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it
near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.
26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near
now, and kiss me, my son.
27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he
smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of
my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:
28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven,
and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:
29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to
thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee:
cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that
blesseth thee.
This is pretty close to the blessings that were bestowed on Abram, with the bread and wine from Shem the Melchizedek Priest, and of the LORD who told Abram that he would bless those who blessed him and curse those who cursed him.
30 ¶ And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made
an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence
of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought
it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of
his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.
32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art
thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.
33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said,
Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and
I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and
he shall be blessed.
34 And when Esau heard the words of his father,
he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless
me, even me also, O my father.
35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty,
and hath taken away thy blessing.
36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob?
for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and,
behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved
a blessing for me?
37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold,
I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for
servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now
unto thee, my son?
38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but
one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau
lifted up his voice, and wept.
39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto
him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of
heaven from above;
40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt
serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion,
that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
41 ¶ And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing
wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of
mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.
42 And these words of Esau her elder son were
told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto
him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing
to kill thee.
43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and
arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;
44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy
brother’s fury turn away;
45 Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee,
and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and
fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my
life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of
Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall
my life do me?
Gn 28:1 ¶ And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and
charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of
Canaan.
2 Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel
thy mother’s father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban
thy mother’s brother.
3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee
fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;
4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to
thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou
art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.
So Jacob departed to see Laban, he was 77 years old.
Isaac had relented at the prompting of his wife to actually bless Jacob with the anointing of the Priesthood passed down from Abraham. He remembers the importance of the Covenant of the LORD and what he knew from Shem and Eber.
Gn 28:10 ¶ And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went
toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and
tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of
that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to
sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on
the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God
ascending and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and
said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the
land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the
earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the
north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of
the earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will
keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again
into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which
I have spoken to thee of.
16 ¶ And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he
said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is
this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is
the gate of heaven.
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and
took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for
a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
19 And he called the name of that place Bethel:
but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be
with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat,
and raiment to put on,
21 So that I come again to my father’s house in
peace; then shall the LORD be my God:
22 And this stone, which I have set for a
pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely
give the tenth unto thee.
Jacob has
now had an encounter with the LORD. He sees the importance of the Covenant and
agrees to tithe on whatever income God provides. He proclaims that this place
will be God’s house, which did come to pass.
When he got to the outskirts of Haran, he saw a well with shepherds there to water their flocks. He asked him about Laban, and they knew him. They said here comes his daughter with some of his flock. And he saw Rachel for the first time. She was a beauty, and when he told her who he was, he was invited home with her to meet her family.
Gn 29:11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his
voice, and wept.
12 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her
father’s brother, and that he was Rebekah’s son: and she ran and told
her father.
13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard the
tidings of Jacob his sister’s son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him,
and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these
things.
14 And Laban said to him, Surely thou art
my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.
15 ¶ And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art
my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall
thy wages be?
16 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the
elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
17 Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was
beautiful and well favoured.
18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve
thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
19 And Laban said, It is better that I
give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.
So Jacob worked for Laban 7 years tending the stock for Rachel. His love for her made it seem like a few days. At the end of that time, Laban had a big wedding feast with eating and drinking and they put Jacob in the wedding chamber, but Laban put Leah in the chamber. When morning came, Jacob realized what had happened and confronted Laban. Who told him it was not their custom to marry off the younger daughter before the older. He gave Zilpah to Leah for her handmaid.
Jacob was upset about this so Laban said he could have Rachel for wife as well, if he would work another 7 years, which Jacob did. Laban gave Rachel Bilhah for her handmaid.
Gn 29:30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved
also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
31 ¶ And when the LORD saw that Leah was
hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.
Hated here is actually loved less.
Jacob had his hands full with 2 wives, 2 concubines, and working with all the livestock.
When Jacob took Leah and Rachel to wife, he was 84 years old. He worked for Laban 13 more years. With the help of the LORD, he left with lots of livestock and 12 children.
Here is a list of the 13 children from 4 women. 12 boys that became the 12 tribes of Israel and 1 daughter.
Jacob and Laban
After 20 years and a lot
of trouble with Laban, Jacob took his family and livestock and left to go home to
the land given to his grandfather Abraham. Laban took men and went after him, his
household gods were missing (teraphim). He arrived and searched all of Jacob’s stuff,
but did not find the idols. Rachel had taken them, but hid them in a camel pack
and sat on it during the search when they came to her she said she was “at the time
of women” so she could not get up. So Laban and Jacob made a covenant together to
not do harm to one another. They ate and drank, Jacob sacrificed and set up a memorial
to the covenant of peace they made and they swore before the God of their fathers.
Genesis
31:44 Now
therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a
witness between me and thee.
So Jacob traveled on and encountered Angels of God, and he called the place "two camps". So he sent messengers to Esau at Seir in Edom to tell him he had been with Laban for 20 years and had a big family and lots of cattle, sheep, goats, asses, men and maid servants. They came back and said that they saw Esau and he was coming to meet him with 400 men. Jacob was afraid for his family so he divided them into two groups and sent them on separate paths so if one was attacked, the other would survive. Then he prayed:
10 I am not worthy of the least of all the
mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for
with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my
brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me,
and the mother with the children.
12 And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good,
and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for
multitude.
Gn 32:24 ¶ And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a
man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against
him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was
out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh.
And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name?
And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more
Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and
hast prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me,
I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou
dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:
for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
This was a special encounter with God the Son, what we call a Christophany of Jesus coming to earth as a man, before He actually was born as one.
In the DSS this section of scripture when Jacob asked His Name, the answer was "Wherefor is it that thou dost ask after My Name, seeing that it is Wonderful?
I believe that this was the time that Jacob was confirmed as Israel and the 9th Melchizedek Priest.
Jacob meets his brother and they reconcile and leave each other in peace. Israel tells Esau that the gifts were for him, and that his face was to him as the face of God. Esau, said he had plenty and to keep the livestock he had sent. When Israel pressed Esau, he accepted. This was part of Jacob's vow to tithe to the LORD for He had saved him from the wrath of his brother.
Israel continues on with his family to live in the land promised to Abraham. Rachel dies giving birth to his youngest son, Benjamin. Joseph has dreams from God that he will be a great man and his brothers sell him as a slave to the Ishmaelites who take him to Egypt. They deceive Jacob that a wild beast killed Joseph, because he was Jacob's favorite, he mourns for many years. Joseph meanwhile interprets a dream of the Pharoah of a coming famine that would devastate Egypt if they did not prepare. So the Pharoah makes Joseph his prime minister and Joseph saves grain for 7 years and feeds the known world for 7 years of famine. Because of the famine, Jacob sends his sons to Egypt to buy grain. Joseph under the name of Imhotep toys with his brothers a while, but finally reveals himself to them. He convinces Israel to move his family to Egypt where they will be fed and under Joseph's care in the land of Goshen on the Nile Delta. Jacob dies there in Egypt, and Joseph takes a royal procession to bury him with his father Abraham in Hebron. Jacob/Israel had been in Egypt for 17 years, he died at 147.
In Gn 49, Israel blesses his 12 sons. For this teaching of the Covenants we will only talk about 3 of them. Somewhere from wrestling with Jesus to the time of his death, God gave Jacob/Israel instructions to split up the Melchizedek Order and that was done by:
Joseph was given the Order of Prophet
Levi was given the Order of Priest
Judah was given the Order of King
Israel stayed in Egypt for over 400 years as God told Abraham at the Covenant. There was a time when Egypt no longer knew Joseph and Israel was seen as a threat, so Egypt made them slaves and they cried to God to deliver them.
God heard their groanings and sent them a deliverer.
Moses and the Covenant of Law
Exodus
2:24 And
God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with
Isaac, and with Jacob.
When the Egyptians had told all the Israeli's to throw their male children into the river, Jochebed put her baby in a little ark to save him, then put it in the river.
When Moses was grown, he had become trained in many things, including war. He had led Egypt's army on campaigns to increase their realm. He knew of his Hebrew heritage. One day he witnessed an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave and struck him down. He buried the body and knew he would be punished, so he ran to Midian. There he met Zipporah and stayed with Jethro her father for some time. Jethro was the Priest of Midian, and worshiped the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Moses married Zipporah and had 2 children, Gershom and Eliezer. Midian was named from a son of Abraham and Keturah, so Zipporah and Moses were both distant children of Abraham.
One day when out grazing the stock North of Jethro's house, Moses saw a sight on the Holy Mountain; a almond tree burning but not being consumed. It was the LORD and He told Moses that he would deliver Israel.
The bush is still there today at the edge of Mt. Sinai in Saudi Arabia.
Moses was given powers over his staff to become a snake and back again and other things like his hand to be leprous then back to normal, to present before Pharaoh, so he asked who shall I tell Pharaoh has sent me, God said I AM that I AM, has sent you, Ex 3:14.
Ex 4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest
to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which
I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let
the people go.
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith
the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he
may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even
thy firstborn.
24 ¶ And it came to pass by the way in the inn,
that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off
the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a
bloody husband art thou to me.
26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody
husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
Apparently, Moses had circumcised his first son, Gershom to the horror of Zipporah who did not allow the cutting on her younger son, Eliezer. So, God showed up as a man and fought with Moses. She then saw the importance and circumcised her son. The LORD was sending Moses to be the Prophet and deliverer for a nation, he had to be obedient to the Law.
This was another Christophany, kind of like Jacob had when he was named Israel.
When Moses and Aaron went before the Pharaoh, he was not impressed. He increased the workload for the Israelites, and they were not happy.
Moses went to the LORD and the LORD encouraged him and reminded him of who He was and His Covenant with Abraham.
When Moses went before Pharaoh again, he threw his staff down and it became a serpent, the sorcerers of Pharaoh did the same with their staffs, but Moses snake devoured the other snakes.
Pharaoh's heart was hardened as God predicted, and then Moses put his rod over the Nile and it turned to blood, but so did the magicians, so Pharaoh was not going to let the people go. This went on through 9 plagues: frogs, lice, flies, disease of livestock, boils on the Egyptians, hail with fire that destroyed crops, locusts, darkness so thick you could feel it, yet in Goshen, Israel had light, and still Pharaoh would not let the people go.
So, as God had told Moses about the plague of the first born, was about to take place. For the Pharoah told Moses the next time h
e saw him, he would die, Ex 10:28-29.
The LORD told Moses to have the people borrow what ever they could from their Egyptian neighbors, and gave Israel favor with them. Then each family was to take a lamb into their homes that was without blemish. On Abib/Nissan 14, they were to take the lamb and kill it, then paint its blood on the doorposts and lintel of the house. This would be the first day of the new religious year. God would send the destroyer through out all of Egypt who would kill the first born of every family, and of every animal; but when he sees the blood cross on the door, he will pass over that house. This is the first Passover which is to be practiced every year as a 7 day feast including Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits. The people were to roast the lamb, and eat unleavened bread, and have themselves ready to leave.
There was a great cry in Egypt that night, every house had at least one die. Pharaohs first born as well. So, he told them to leave, them and all their livestock and possessions. So they spoiled Egypt and all of them left healed with no feeble among them. They left following Moses about 600,000 men, not including women and children, probably 1.5 -2.5 million people. Israel had been in Egypt 430 years, Ex 12,
The LORD told them through Moses that the first born of people and animals belonged to Him. They went out of Egypt by way of the Red Sea. God sent a pillar of fire to lead them by night (as well as keep them warm) and a pillar of smoke by day (to keep them cool). These divine apparitions led them through the wilderness.
When Pharaoh realized what had happened, and his grief over his son and lessened, he got his army together and went after Israel. This is the route they took and were camped on the beach of modern Nuweiba when the Pharaoh's army came to them.
Pharoah had said they would be entangled in the mountains. There is only one canyon that goes to the beach at Nuweiba and it is narrow.
Here God set His pillar of fire to hold back the Egyptians from slaughtering Israel.
Ex 14:10 ¶ And when Pharaoh drew
nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians
marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried
out unto the LORD.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there
were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness?
wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell
thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it
had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in
the wilderness.
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not,
stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to
day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no
more for ever.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall
hold your peace.
God said to Moses, Why cry to Me? Go forward! Hold your rod over the sea and divide it. Moses did so and the Red Sea at the modern gulf of Aqaba parted before them.
The LORD had sent a wind and dried the sea floor and Israel and all their livestock went across on dry land. The crossing is about 10 miles across and it took most of the night for them to cross. There was a wall of water on the right and on the left of them.
When on the other side, God moved the pillar of fire and the Egyptians went into the water trench to cross in pursuit. Moses put his staff over the sea and in closed in over the chariots and soldiers and they were drowned.
This was a great miracle, but one of many to follow. The Israelis picked up the weapons and continued to follow the fire and smoke into the wilderness.
Solomon marked the crossing spot with huge granite pillars. Here is the one at Nuweiba. The one that had Solomon, Moses, Egypt written on it across in Saudi Arabia was taken by the Saudi Government.
Then they went to Rephidim, where Moses was told by God to strike the rock, and it split and gave them much needed water for them and their livestock. The Rock is about 50' high. The rocks are eroded from flowing water.
There was running water here and God sent them manna for food 6 days a week, with a double portion on Friday so they did not have to go out and gather manna on the Sabbath.
God remembered His Covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. There was not one death recorded in the trip here. So, the LORD offered them an opportunity to be a special treasure with Him.
Exodus 19:3 And
Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain,
saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of
Israel;
4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians,
and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice
indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me
above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests,
and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the
children of Israel.
Understand that the people had complained pretty much all the way here, about everything. They had seen the plagues and been delivered from Egypt. Seen the LORD save them at the Red Sea, give them water, food, and deliver them from the Amalekites.
But they somehow thought that because of their lineage to Abraham by their own ability they could do whatever God said. They answered Moses when he told them:
7 And Moses came and called for the elders of
the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD
commanded him.
8 And all the people answered together, and
said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of
the people unto the LORD.
This was an arrogant answer. Abraham was humble before the LORD and believed Him, and God counted that to him as righteousness.
God was not happy about this reply.
9 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto
thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and
believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the
people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their
clothes,
11 And be ready against the third day: for the
third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount
Sinai.
12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people
round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up
into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall
be surely put to death:
13 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall
surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall
not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the
people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against
the third day: come not at your wives.
16 ¶ And it came to pass on the third day in the
morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the
mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that
was in the camp trembled.
17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the
camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke,
because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as
the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded
long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a
voice.
20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on
the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the
mount; and Moses went up.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge
the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them
perish.
22 And let the priests also, which come near to
the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.
The Commandments Given by God
Ex 20:1 ¶ And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven
image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or
that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor
serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the
iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation
of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that
love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy
God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in
vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy
work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of
the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son,
nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy
stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven
and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:
wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy
days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house,
thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy
neighbour’s.
18 ¶ And all the people saw the thunderings, and
the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and
when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us,
and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
God comes down on Sinai
Here is a Google Earth view of Mt. Sinai and Jabal al Laws. You can see that the whole area around Sinai was darkened by God's visit here over 3000 years ago.
After this first week of Moses in the cloud with God, the LORD called Moses up the Holy Mountain for 40 days and nights. He gave him 603 more Commandments after the first 10. Moses was given specific instructions on building the Tabernacle and its furniture. The first 10 were etched by the finger of God into 2 sapphire cubes according to Jewish writings. These were a part of His throne which also sapphire.
Ex 24:1 ¶ And he said unto Moses,
Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the
elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but
they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
3 And Moses came and told the people all the
words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one
voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and
rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve
pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 And he sent young men of the children of
Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen
unto the LORD.
6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it
in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read
in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will
we do, and be obedient.
8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it
on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath
made with you concerning all these words.
9 ¶ Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and
Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there
was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it
were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel
he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
12 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me
into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law,
and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
The ones who had sworn to do what ever the LORD said, had broken several commandments in a month. They worshiped another god and made graven images. They feasted and drank and rose up to play and were promiscuous, Ex 32.
The LORD told Moses to get down to the camp for the people had corrupted themselves. When Moses saw what was happening, he was very angry and broke the Commandment tablets. He burnt the golden calf and ground it to powder and cast it on the water and made the people drink it.
Ex 32:30 ¶ And it came to pass on
the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and
now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your
sin.
31 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said,
Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin — ;
and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath
sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the
place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before
thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
Moses went before the LORD in the Tabernacle, also known as the Tent of Meeting. While there he communed with God and the Presence of the LORD was seen as a pillar of smoke by day, or fire by night.
God talked to Moses face to face as a man would talk to his friend. He told Moses that he would send His Angel to go with them to the Promised Land, for if He was there He might consume them. Because of the golden calf affair, God had all the people strip off their ornaments. The people mourned over God being grieved with them, Ex 33.
Ex 33: 12
¶ And Moses said unto the LORD, See,
thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom
thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast
also found grace in my sight.
13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found
grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find
grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee,
and I will give thee rest.
15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with
me, carry us not up hence.
16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and
thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest
with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are
upon the face of the earth.
17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this
thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I
know thee by name.
Moses and Joshua before the LORD and the Ark of the Covenant
This Grace is what God had always desired for mankind. This is what He offered to the people, yet they thought all God's blessings would happen if they kept the Law, which they did not. But they would continue to try.
Ex 33: 18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy
glory.
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass
before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be
gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew
mercy.
20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for
there shall no man see me, and live.
21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a
place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth
by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my
hand while I pass by:
23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt
see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
Ex 34:1 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables
of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the
words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.
The "rock" here represents Jesus the Messiah. If you have Jesus in you, God's hand covers you. When Moses came back to see the people he was glowing, and they were afraid; he had to wear a veil till the glow subsided.
There are many more things that happened in Moses' life, miracles, and special things. Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible, the Torah. He also prophesied that God would send another Prophet like Moses who the people would hear like God, Deu 18:15-18. This was the Messiah, Jesus. The Covenant of Law lasted until the coming of the Savior, Christ Jesus; about 1500 years.
Leviticus 26:15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul
abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that
ye break my covenant:
16 I
also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption,
and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart:
and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 And
I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they
that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
18
And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish
you seven times more for your sins.
Leviticus
26:25 And
I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my
covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the
pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
The Covenant of Law by God through Moses lasted through the 40 years in the wilderness for an evil report from 10 of the 12 spies that looked into the promised land. That whole generation died during that time and Joshua and Caleb were the only ones to lead the next generation into the Promised land.
After Joshua's death, God's Covenant governed through the Judges, and Kings, and captivity.
Most all of the Patriarchs wrote testaments of record of their lives to their children. Most were found in the records of the Dead Sea Scrolls, DSS.
Levi wrote of the corruption of the Priests that would come from his descendants.
Judah became the ancestor of David, from which the Messiah Jesus would come.
From Moses to John the Baptist the list of the heads of the School of the Prophets was recorded through Hippolytus and fragments of the DSS that recorded the Melchizedek Order.
Covenant of Salt
Leviticus
2:13 And
every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt
thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat
offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.
Numbers
18:19 All
the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto
the LORD, have I given thee,
and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a
covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to
thy seed with thee.
Salt is a preservation of food, and gives flavor. It is a symbol and tool of righteousness, preservation, and covenant between God and man, and man and man.
In the old times men would carry salt in a small pouch. When making covenant with one another they would mix some of their salt to use in the ceremony. It was a binding agreement.
When a city was conquered salt was used to make sure plants would not grow there.
Judges
9:45 And
Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and slew
the people that was therein, and beat down the city, and sowed it with
salt.
Salt was used to establish David's kingdom as ordered by God.
2
Chronicles 13:5 Ought
ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave
the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons
by a covenant of salt?
Salt was also used as a healing element and a means to do spiritual battle against evil.
2
Kings 2:21 And
he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and
said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed
these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
Elisha heals spring in Jericho with salt.
Jesus declared that we are the salt of the earth under the New Covenant.
Matthew
5:13 ¶
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost
his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing,
but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Mark
9:49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall
be salted with salt.
Mark
9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness,
wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with
another.
New Covenant Prophesied
A few hundred years before Jesus was born on the earth, Prophets told of His coming and what the New Covenant would do, one of these was Jeremiah.
Jeremiah
31:31 ¶
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a
new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jeremiah
31:33 But
this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law
in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and
they shall be my people.
Malachi wrote the last book of the Old Testament (Covenant) and told of John the Baptist and of the Messiah to come.
Malachi 4: 1 For, behold, the day
cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do
wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith
the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
2 ¶ But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun
of righteousness arise with healing in his
wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And
ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your
feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
4 ¶ Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him
in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
5 ¶ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the
great and dreadful day of the LORD: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the
fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I
come and smite the earth with a curse.
New Covenant
When God's timing had come, Jesus was born in the City of David, Mic 5:2, to a pious virgin named Mary, Isa 7:14. This prophecy says that He would be Immanuel, which means God with us. God had the legal right for this because of the sacrifice of Isaac, as we have seen. The 4 Gospels describe Jesus' life and mission as Savior of the world. Mary was espoused to Joseph, a descendent of David and the line of Kings, Mt 1. However, before the captivity, that line was cursed. Mary also was descended from David, but through Nathan, who was not a King, Lk 3. This fulfills the first prophecy of God that Messiah would come as a "seed of the woman", Gn 3:15.
The wise men from the East came to worship the young Child for they had seen His star and knew the King of the Jews had been born. These were Magi who had studied at the School of the Magi that Daniel had established during the captivity over 500 years before. They brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh of great value, Mt 2.
Jesus was born on the Feast of Trumpets 2 BC. He was taken to the Temple by Joseph and Mary and they offered 2 turtle doves for him (foretold in Abraham's Covenant sacrifice) on the Feast of Atonement. The Magi came and were warned by God to go home another way, because Herod would try and kill the Child. Joseph was also warned and went to Egypt to avoid Herod's attempt to kill the Christ Child. Their gifts paid for the Holy Family's trip on the Feast of Tabernacles.
After Herod's death, they went back to Israel and raised Jesus in Nazareth. Jesus grew in favor with God and man, and learned the scriptures. At 12 years old, He astonished the Pharisees at the Temple with His knowledge of the Word.
John, Jesus' cousin from Mary's aunt Elizabeth was a miracle child and born to Zacarias and Elizabeth at an old age. He was 6 months older than Jesus, Lk 1. John was grown now and was about 30 and knew he had been called of God to baptize people to repent and come back to God, for the Messiah was coming and the Kingdom of God was coming with Him. Now John was descended from the long line of Prophets and was baptizing in the wilderness on the Jordan River. He was actually the head of the School of Prophets of the Essene community. These scribes had kept the order of the Zadok Priests from the time of David from Aaron's line and all of the records. They had left the group of the Pharisees and Sadducees who had corrupted the calendar, and Messianic teachings, around 200 BC, DSS.
Jesus came to John to be baptized. John told Him that He should baptize him. Jesus told him that everything had to be in order. You see, Jesus was sinless, but He knew that John was the one who had the legal right to unite the Priest, King, and Prophet which Jacob had divided, into one man, and that Man was Jesus. So John agreed and baptized Jesus, Mt 3.
When Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and the Holy Spirit came down and lighted on Jesus. God spoke from Heaven and said "This is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. The Order of Melchizedek was now established in Jesus who was the Priest, King, and Prophet and would keep that Order forever, Ps 110:4 Heb 7-9.
Jesus actively demonstrated the Grace of God in His 3 1/2 year ministry that followed. First the Spirit took Him to the wilderness where He fasted for 40 days. The devil tried to get him to sin, but Jesus fought him with the Word of God and the devil left, Mt 4.
Jesus demonstrated the power of God to the religious order many times. He healed the sick, he cast out demons, he calmed the storm, he raised the dead. The Pharisees and Sadducees did not recognize God in their midst. He told them that He and the Father were one. Jesus saw right through the facade of the Pharisees and told them they were like white washed tombs that looked good but were full of dead men's bones, Mt 23:27.
Later that night, He was arrested by the Temple guard while they were in the Garden of Gethsemane. They were led by Judas, who betrayed Jesus. He submitted to this false arrest and illegal trial of the Sanhedrin because He knew that He was the Lamb of God. He had told His disciples that He could call and 12 legions of Angels would come and rescue Him and destroy the earth, but that was not God's will.
Then Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy follower of Jesus, and Nicodemus, a believer in Jesus and part of the Sanhedrin procured the body of Jesus and took and put Him in a cloth and wrapped in in linen strips dipped in aloe and myrrh, about 100 pounds. Then they put Him in Joseph's unfinished tomb, Jn 19.
3 days later at the dawning of the first day of the week, there was a great earthquake for the Angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door of the tomb and sat on it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment was white as snow. For the fear of him, the guards fell down as dead. Two of the women were coming to anoint the body, and saw the Angel, who said you seek Jesus, He is not here go tell his disciples that He has risen, He will meet you in Galilee, Mt 28.
Jn 20: 1 ¶ The first day of the week cometh Mary
Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone
taken away from the sepulchre.
2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter,
and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have
taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid
him.
3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other
disciple, and came to the sepulchre.
4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple
did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
5 And he stooping down, and looking in,
saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and
went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not
lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
8 Then went in also that other disciple, which
came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
9 For as yet they knew not
the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
What they believed is that no one stole Jesus body; for with all the aloe an myrrh and aloe that Joseph and Nicodemus put on Him had hardened and the strips had made a cocoon with a hole where the neck was and the linen shroud over the face and body was folded by itself.
Jesus then came and talked to Mary Magdalene at the tomb:
11 ¶ But Mary stood without at the sepulchre
weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the
sepulchre,
12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one
at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest
thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not
where they have laid him.
14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself
back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou?
whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir,
if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take
him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned
herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am
not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I
ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Jesus had to go and anoint the Heavenly Ark of the Covenant with His blood. After that He returned and wanted his followers to touch Him and see His Covenant scars.
Jesus was crucified on Passover 32 AD. He was buried on Unleavened Bread. He rose from the dead on Firstfruits. 50 days later, Jesus sent the Holy Ghost to the upper room and filled 120 there. Jesus appeared to many for 40 days after His resurrection. Then He ascended to heaven. So Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit was only 10 days later, Acts 1-2. On the first Pentecost at Mt. Sinai, 3000 died. On the New Covenant Pentecost, 3000 were saved by the Holy Ghost speaking through the Church.
New Covenant main points:
The Covenant of Law is not in operation anymore, but Grace, Gal 2:21 5:4.
By faith in Jesus' sacrifice of Himself and His resurrection one is forgiven for sin and given eternal life. This is confessing the Lord as your Savior and repenting (change your mind) to listen to and follow Him, Rm 10:9 Mt 4:17.
Jesus' Spirit is Salvation. When His Spirit moves into your spirit, you are born again, Jn 3:16-18.
The Lord on the cross took your sins, diseases, pain, suffering, and poverty. We receive the good, because He took the bad. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, Rm 3:22-4 2 Cor 5:21.
As a new creature in Christ, you can receive the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, who will lead and guide you in all truth, Jn 14:26, Ac 1:5-8.
We are promised to live forever with God and Jesus and receive an immortal body like Jesus has. We will work with Him forever as ambassadors of the Melchizedek Order of our High Priest, Jesus, Phil 3:21 2 Cor 5:20.
