Adam and Eve had to work to eat. Things were not pleasant. They were clothed in freshly made animal skins. The wonderful times that they had with the Creator of all were now separated by their choice...sin. They had broken the only command in disobedience to what God had said in disobedience.
No doubt, much of the water mentioned in Genesis 1:2 was ice. So, the environment outside God's perfect garden was harsh and wild. None the less, life continued and Adam and Eve began the human race.
Their first two sons were Cain followed by Abel.
Satan, who now was operating in the dominion of the earth that was given by God to Adam, knew that God had promised that the seed of the woman would bruise his head. In the process of time, Satan worked on Cain an instilled jealousy and hatred for his brother which ended up in the murder of Abel.
In the twisted reasoning of Satan, this eliminated the first born from being the promised "seed" as Cain was now banished as a murderer. The second son in line was now dead. However the Bible says that Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters, Genesis 5:4. In the Book of Jubilees, accepted as scripture by the Eastern Orthodox, Cain marries his sister, Awan, 4:9.
Seth was the third son, and his lineage is tracked through out the Bible. The promised "seed of the woman" would come through his line many years later. This would be the Messiah of God.
Apparently all of the angels that followed Lucifer in his rebellion were not locked in the abyss, or Satan learned how to release some with his new found dominion. In the Book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees, they are called the Watchers. Some say that these were the "sons of God" written about in Genesis 6. They saw the daughters of men and lusted after them.
However, they were defeated by God in the rebellion and did not have their original bodies, and even if they did, angels were not made to pro-create. No doubt they were beautiful originally and very powerful, they had lost their first estate, Jude 1:6.
They had to posses the men of the earth in order to fulfill their lustful desires.
The offspring of these unions were genetically altered and became giants. There are many legends of this in every part of the world. There is also evidence that has been discovered.
These giants are called the Nephilim. This was an elaborate plan by Satan to pollute the children of men so that there was no pure blood line for the "seed of the woman" to be born. This was a big reason for God to bring the Great Flood (see my previous blogs on the Great Flood of Noah). Noah's generations were perfect and thus were saved to repopulate the world. Noah found Grace in the sight of God.
All through history, Satan has persecuted all of the men of God that he perceived as a threat or that might be the "seed of the woman" that God had promised.
Satan can take many forms and according to Scripture he is called the serpent, the fiery flying serpent, and the dragon.
In Job 41, God talks about a leviathan in detail. The description is of a mighty beast in which sparks fly from his mouth...king of the sons of pride.
In Psalms 104:26, it tells of the leviathan which lives in the sea.
There are cultures that glorify the dragon. There are also many legends and stories of dragons around the world. Maybe there is something to these different legends such as St. George and the dragon.
Isaiah 27 tells how that someday the sword of the Lord will slay the leviathan, the crooked serpent, the dragon that lives in the sea.
The story of the final defeat of Satan and his being thrown in the lake of fire is clear in the Bible, Revelation 20:10. But until that time, he is still the prince of this world according to Jesus' words and the god of this world according to Paul's words. All scripture is inspired of God the Holy Ghost.
Even though Satan can appear as the horrifying creatures above, it probably would not be to his advantage as much as deception. I mean that is how he got his angels to follow him in the rebellion against God, and that is how he got the dominion from Adam. Paul warns us that Satan can appear as an angel of light, 2 Corinthians 11:14.
Peter warns us that Satan as a roaring lion seeks whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5:8.
But, through Jesus we can defeat the devil's power and be victorious in this life. Jesus came to defeat the works of the devil, 1 John 3:8. Jesus said that the prince of this world has nothing in Me, John 14:30.
He is truly the light of the world and can be the light of your life, John 8:12.
Jesus became sin so that you might become His righteousness. His body and blood absorbed the wrath of God against the sin of man at the cross. Though He was innocent, He died for you and in your place. When He cried "It is finished!", the work of God for the redemption of man was complete. For you to receive this Salvation that is offered by God, you just need to believe in, trust, and rely on Jesus, and repent which means change the way you think, John 3:12-21.
After Jesus had paid the price and purchased our redemption with His life, God raised Him from the dead. He now sits at the right hand of His Father and rules the Universe.
